
Eric Des Marais, MSW, LCSW, is lecturer in the Faculty of Health and Welfare at Okayama Prefectural University in Soja, Okayama Prefecture, Japan.
In the past, Eric taught at English at Tohoku Gakuin University in Sendai, Miyagi. He also taught undergraduate and graduate social work classes at Metropolitan State University of Denver and at the Graduate School of Social Work, University of Denver. His classes focused on research skills, community development, and global perspectives on sustainable development. He has published papers in peer-reviewed academic journals and served on the GSSW Global Practice and Sustainability curriculum committee. He has presented at international conferences in Europe, North America, and Asia.
In his free time, Eric loves to explore many different interests. He loves hiking and camping with his wife and son. He also enjoys practicing aikido. He plays guitar and keyboards, and has put together a few albums, samples of which can be found here.
